Pour Les Femmes Foundation Inc
Pour Les Femmes Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 that was created by actor Robin Wright and designer Karen Fowler to further the corporate social responsibility goals of Pour Les Femmes LLC.
In 2020, Pour Les Femmes donated $37,000 for the construction of a new tailoring workshop in Goma, DRCongo. The donation included the purchase of new modern commercial sewing machines and related equipment. To date, over 200 local artisans are trained to sew and embroider allowing these artisans to work for a living wage in a historically war-torn region of a country where the average income is less than $2 per day.
The GiveWork atelier sews the popular GiveWork capsule collection for Pour Les Femmes as well as garments for other brands, connecting the people of Eastern Congo with export opportunities to the rest of the world. Orders from Pour Les Femmes customers have given over 2000 days of work to the GiveWork tailors so far but many more days of work are needed in this region where opportunities for work are scarce and unemployment is extremely high.
Pour Les Femmes also provides ongoing financial support for the Congo Peace School. The Peace School is a one-of-a-kind primary and secondary school in Eastern Congo that provides quality education integrated with nonviolence principles based on the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The school serves vulnerable children and orphans, preparing them for constructive, peaceful leadership to influence the future of their nation, and our world.
